The International Institute for Human Rights and Peace contributes to the development of a culture of peace by promoting awareness of human rights for all citizens. Its activities focus on three areas: promoting human rights by raising awareness among its audiences and recognising local and international commitments; capacity building through professional training; and supporting institutions with expertise to promote the rule of law and human rights. The institute draws in particular on the method of education in human rights and democratic citizenship developed by the Council of Europe.
