United States: indictment of Donald Trump (season 1)

Tuesday 4 April: Former US President Donald Trump appeared in a Manhattan criminal court on account of 34 charges. The first American president to be indicted by the courts, he is accused of misappropriating campaign funds for having bought the silence of a former X-rated film actress. The famous “Stormy Daniels” case… Trump, who pleads not guilty, faces up to four years in prison. He denounced, with his usual verve, a “witch hunt”, a “phoney court” and a “very biased” judge. “The far-left Democrats have criminalized the justice system”, he defended himself. The Republican presidential candidate in 2024 knows above all how to take advantage of media attention to mobilise his electorate for the future election, if his campaign is not hampered by other judicial investigations currently underway, starting with that of the Capitol riots in 2021.
