We expected it, it happened. Prime Minister Edouard Philippe, re-elected in the second round of municipal elections in Le Havre, resigned his government on July 3. The same day, Jean Castex, mayor of Prades from the right, was appointed in his place. Three days of suspense later, a new government is at the helm to face the triple crisis (health, economic and social) that the country is going through. Reactions were not long in coming. The appointment to the interior ministry of Gérald Darmanin (the target of a rape complaint) aroused the indignation of feminists, while two colourful characters made the headlines: the great return of Roselyne Bachelot (minister under President Sarkozy) to culture, and the surprise arrival of lawyer Eric Dupont-Moretti in the judiciary.
A new game team to try to regain the confidence of the French people… and the 2022 presidency?
