The stormy G7 that took place in Taormina (Italy) on 26 and 27 of May showed the hand, and it is now confirmed : during his declaration on June 1st of 2017, the President Trump announced the US withdrawal from Paris Agreement on climate (the first universal agreement ratified by 195 countries, adopted on December 12, 2015 in Paris, during the COP21, which aims to contain the global warming under 2°C).
Donald Trump, openly climate skeptic, stepped back on this historical decision, in the name of American interests. The numerous pressures on him didn’t change anything and his decision came as a bombshell across the whole world. The disapproval is unanimous and reactions weren’t long in coming : Barack Obama accused Trump of “rejecting the future“. Emmanuel Macron said this decision was a “mistake for the planet’s future” and he transformed Trump’s famous slogan to launch a call to the rest of the world “Make our planet great again”. The UN expressed their “great disappointment“.
To face this shock wave, a movement of resistance is starting, and governors, mayors and businessman are already organizing the blockade from inside the country against an irresponsible and highly serious decision for our planet.
