Building on its success, the Cartooning for Peace collection, published by Gallimard since 2017, is growing! Two new titles appear in France (but also in Spain, Akal Editions) on March 8 and enrich this unprecedented editorial adventure. Through their sharpen pencils, the cartoonists from all over the world present the major news topics and social issues:
Poutine super tsar (Putin super tsar), preface by Eric Chol: on the eve of the Russian presidential elections on March 18, while there is no doubt about the results, the Cartooning for Peace cartoonists come back to the Putin years, who leads the country since 2000. How to analyze his presidency up to now? What balance will he leave to his eventual successor? A selection of 60 editorial cartoons gives an international point of view on the actions of this controversial statesman, as Russia’s diplomatic relations became more tense during the past years.
Ça chauffe pour la planète! (It’s getting warmer for the planet!), preface by Yann Arthus-Bertrand: while the United States decided to withdraw from the Paris climate agreement and our annual planetary resources are consumed in less than 8 months, it is urgent to question the health of our good old Mother Earth. Through 60 editorial cartoons from all over the world, the Cartooning for Peace cartoonists raise awareness about ecology, global warming, renewable energies and the consequences of natural disasters.
