Facing 9 sedition charges and possibly 43 years in prison, Malaysian cartoonist Zunar is now banned from traveling

On October 17, 2016, en route to Singapore for a conference, Malaysian cartoonist Zunar was stopped by the immigration officer at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport. Zunar is currently contesting nine charges of sedition by the Malaysian government, for critical tweets he published after a February 2015 court decision to jail the country’s main opposition leader.
