Humor in the Mediterranean

Conference

15/11/2011

The Cultural Council of the Union for the Mediterranean offers us a new conference, as part of the cycle « Les Mardis de Marigny », raising the question of how far can go humor, in the aftermath of the burning topic of the French satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo.

Participants from both sides of the Mediterranean give their opinion on the matter:

  • Plantu, cartoonist and columnist for the French press, also President of “Cartooning for Peace”
  • Vanessa ROUSSELOT, director of the film “Jokes aside”, about humor in Palestine
  • Nadia KHIARI, Tunisian painter and drawer, who created the cartoon series “Willis from Tunis”, on Facebook, presenting a facetious cat commenting on the important events of the Tunisian revolution,
  • Fouad LAROUI, Moroccan writer, author of several bestselling books, used to deal with derision of French and Moroccan societies.
