In the framework of the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the exhibition “Licence to sketch” is presented for the first time in Paris in 2008 and then in Nîmes from 2009.
This exhibition gives an outlook of contemporary editorial cartoons by gathering 26 artists of 18 different nationalities. After having being presented at the Bibliothèque historique de la Ville de Paris (Historical Library of Paris), the exhibition is displayed at the Carré d’Art of Nîmes. “Licence to sketch” enables us to go around the world of editorial cartoons and caricatures.
The exhibition comes from a personal, artistic, cultural and national approach by each cartoonist, which contributes to enhance diversity of views and different perspectives on news.
