{"id":38399,"date":"2021-01-04T11:51:21","date_gmt":"2021-01-04T10:51:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.cartooningforpeace.org\/?p=38399"},"modified":"2022-09-09T11:03:27","modified_gmt":"2022-09-09T09:03:27","slug":"alert-jordan-emad-hajjaj","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cartooningforpeace.org\/en\/alert-jordan-emad-hajjaj\/","title":{"rendered":"Alert Jordan &#8211; Emad Hajjaj"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><strong>Update, January 4, 2021<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Criminal Magistrate\u2019s Court of Amman (Jordan) decides to cease the prosecution of cartoonist Emad Hajjaj.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cartooning for Peace welcomes the court\u2019s decision, taken at a hearing on 23 December 2020, to drop charges against the cartoonist for \u201ccontempt of a president of a foreign country against the provisions of 122\/1 of the Penal Code\u201d following the publication of the opposite cartoon .<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Public Prosecutor\u2019s Office may appeal against this decision within 60 days of the date of issue of the decision (i.e. 23 December 2020).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">CFP welcomes the court\u2019s willingness to uphold the principles of freedom of expression enshrined in the Kingdom of Jordan\u2019s Constitution and wishes the cartoonist a speedy resolution of this difficult event.
