Following the call for the protection of cartoonists in Europe<\/a> launched by the Media Freedom Rapid Response consortium, Cartooning for Peace is joining forces with Cartoon Movement and Cartoonists Rights Network International to sound the alarm about the situation of press cartoonists worldwide.<\/h5>\n

Indeed, from March to May 2020, the partners were alerted to a significant number of attacks against cartoonists \u2013 far more than in the same period of 2019 \u2013 largely due to the COVID-19 crisis. They are also concerned about the economic consequences of the crisis on a profession that has already been greatly weakened.<\/p>\n

The partners therefore call for respect for the free expression of cartoonists, as enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and for solidarity with a profession that is fundamental to our democracies.<\/strong><\/p>\n
