Prominent<\/span> Iranian<\/span> cartoonist<\/span> Hadi<\/span> Heidari<\/span> was arrested<\/span> on Monday, November 16<\/span> at his office in Shahravand<\/span><\/em> newspaper,<\/span> where he works as Artistic Director<\/span>,<\/span> and was taken to<\/span> Evin prison<\/span>. Police officers<\/span> who arrested<\/span> gave no<\/span> explanation<\/span> and his lawyer<\/span> hasn’t<\/span> had the possibility to<\/span> meet him yet.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hadi<\/span> Heidari<\/span> was previously arrested<\/span> in 2009 and<\/span> was imprisoned for<\/span> 17 days<\/span>. In 2010,<\/span> he was arrested<\/span> “<\/span>for propaganda\u00a0against<\/span> the State<\/span><\/span> accusations<\/span>” a second time<\/span>. In 2012<\/span>, a third arrest,<\/span> this time<\/span> for a cartoon<\/span> published<\/span> in Shargh<\/span> newspaper<\/span>: the authorities<\/span> accused<\/span> the cartoonist of<\/span> mocking<\/span> Iran-Iraq war<\/span> combatants. <\/span><\/p>\n
