On the night of the 14th of July in Nice, as Bastille’s Day’s firework show had just ended and as people were still on the Promenade des Anglais, a truck deliberately plowed 2 kilometers through the crowd, killing 84, including children. 202 people were injured and 52 suffered serious injuries.
The driver is now formally identified but no one has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
French President François Hollande has announced that the state of emergency will be extended for three more months. He has also declared three days of national mourning.
