“The Mediterranean in cartoons“, Cartooning for Peace’s third educational kit, is touring since more than a year in middle and high schools of Aix Marseille’s academy but also in agricultural high schools of PACA region and Léo Lagrange social centers.
This exhibition tackles the current issues of the Mediterranean basin : coexistence of religions, migrations, tourism and environnement but also the role of women in order to provoke the debate on what brings people closer and what takes people away around the Mediterranean Sea.
To complete the pedagogical work realized with the “The Mediterranean in cartoons” exhibition, Cartooning for Peace organizes meetings with French and foreign cartoonists to educate young audiences to cartoonists’ work and to the importance of freedom of speech.
On Thursday March 23rd and Friday 24th, cartoonist Nadia Khiari, also known as Willis From Tunis, intervenes with Marseille Thiers high school students, on the occasion of “La langue française en partage” (sharing French language) – an event organized at the Mediterranean Villa from March 23rd to March 26th for the 2017 week of Press and Media at School and the 2017 week of Francophone countries.
She is also visiting “Echelle 13” social center, as part of the collaboration between Cartooning for Peace and Léo Lagrange Mediterranean Foundation, to debate with young people about freedom of speech and human rights.
