The strong emotions generated around the world by the terrorist attacks in Paris and Copenhagen in early 2015, combined with a new awareness of the growing chasms between different communities in our societies, have lead to the creation of a common space dedicated to the promotion of dialogue, the exchange of ideas, debates on the freedom of speech and cartoons in the press; a space that is more important than ever.
On September 21, 2015, an international seminar titled ‘Press cartoons: a state of affairs’ is organized by Cartooning for Peace and thought up with Régis Debray. This seminar brought together cartoonists from all around the world as well as intellectuals, theologians, cultural, politic and civil society representatives. This exhibition, presented at the SCAM in Paris from March 15 to May 20, displays a collection of cartoons highlighting conclusions of the Seminar.
