Cartoons for Peace (2012)

Geneva (Switzerland)
Exhibition

From 03/05/2012 to 03/06/2012

From May 3 to June 3, 2012, Cartooning for Peace and the city of Geneva present the exhibition Cartoons for Peace 2012 on Lac Leman banks in Geneva. On the occasion of the World Press Freedom Day and the 1st International Press Cartoon Prize, the opening of the exhibition takes place on May 3, 2012, in the presence of Kofi Annan, Pierre Maudet (Mayor of Geneva) and the three awarded Iranian cartoonists : Firoozeh, Kianoush and Hassan Karimzadeh.

A main part of the exhibition Cartoons for Peace 2012 is dedicated to awarded cartoonists. According to Plantu “their cartoons highlight the limitations and restrictions on freedom of expression ; they have to arrange these constraints to express themselves.

The exhibition “Cartoons for Peace 2012” also includes hundreds of editorial cartoons from around the world on issues of freedom of expression, the Arab Spring and Women Rights : a hundred of cartoons as a proposal for debates and sharing convictions.
