On Tuesday, December 11, as the famous Strasbourg Christmas Market was about to close, rifle shots rang out: three dead and thirteen wounded. This is enough to reopen the scar that France has struggled to heal since the tragic attacks of 2015.
The authorities quickly concluded that it was a terrorist attack and were able to identify the suspect: Cherif Chakatt, 29 years old, convicted several times for rape, violence and drug trafficking, radicalized in prison.
Two days of stalking plunged the city into anguish: the perpetrator of the attack was shot dead on Thursday evening in the Neudorf district by the police while the Islamic State (EI) claimed responsibility for the attack by communiqué.
As if it wasn’t the only problem that France is facing at the end of the year, we also have to add “yellow vests” crisis…
