France: “Alors, ça marche?” (So, It Works?)

Editorial published on October 12, 2017

Cartooning for Peace is pleased to announce the publication of a new book from its Gallimard collection: Alors, ça marche?* (“So, it works?”), prefaced by the French writer Regis Debray. The book addresses, through 120 political cartoons from around the world, the unprecedented French electoral year.

After a particularly tough election campaign for all the contesting parties, after a historic duel between the candidate of the Front National Marine Le Pen and the candidate of En Marche! Emmanuel Macron, after an election exceptionally marked by the rate of abstention (25.44%), the new President of France is now confronted with the stakes of his function and, above all, the French, European and international reality.

The acerbic pencils of the cartoonists examine these moments with the impertinence and the insight that characterize them.
