The French National Day reminds of very darks memories since last year ; the terrible terrorist vehicle-ramming attack which change the Promenade des Anglais of Nice in a bloody cemetery, in the middle of the Bastille Day celebrations, had killed 86 people and injured more than 400. On this 2017 Bastille Day, one year after, many tributes will be paid in Nice while the city is still under the pain and shock of the attack.
At the same time, the French capital receives the American Presidential couple, invited by President Macron to attend the traditional Champs-Elysées military parade, on the occasion of the centenary of American troops engagement in the WWI. The event triggers strong reactions in the French political class, and many have expressed their awkwardness after the announcement of the invitation of the one who sparks a controversy a few weeks ago, with the USA withdrawal from Paris climate agreement. This may be the occasion for the new French President to make Trump change is mind … ?
