On November 09th 2016, the Republican candidate Donald Trump has won the US presidency against his Democratic rival Hilary Clinton (290 electoral votes against 228) after a violent campaign defying the polls. The pundits had announced a tied result but they were not able to truly judge the influence of the future White House resident on the American electorate, feeling forgotten by the political establishment.
This victory has shocked the entire world and created concerns among the population. Useless to say that Hilary Clinton was not able to make the difference as she played the “establishment candidate” role.
But the gathering tone of Donald Trump’s victory discourse should not hide his alarming threats against women, undocumented migrants, Muslims tourists or Mexicans. Let’s wait and see if he is going to be the man he pretends to be…
