On July 6, 2016, the panel in charge of investigating the British intervention during the US/UK invasion of Iraq, 7 years ago, has published its findings. The Chilcot report concludes that the operation was a disaster and is extremely critical of the then Prime Minister Toni Blair’s implication. “We have concluded that the UK chose to join the invasion of Iraq before the peaceful options for disarmament had been exhausted. Military action at that time was not a last resort.” declared the President of the inquiry, John Chilcot.
