Brazil rocked by a new corruption scandal

Editorial published on March 17, 2016

A few months before the 2016 Olympics, Brazil is shaken by a strong crisis. The economy, already in recession, has to face the consequences of the operation “Lava jato” (jet wash) which aims to set the country free of corruption. The Brazilian multinational company, Petrobras, along with many politicians and business leaders are affected by this witch-hunt. The media take part in this affair by denouncing, even though they do not systematically hold evidences of their claims.

The President Dilma Roussef (PT, Workers Party) faces strong criticisms from a part of the population.
